Our Approach

Establish a social justice informed culturally rooted, and Intergenerational Healing Approach™ that improves mental health and wellness outcomes to Indigenous and underserved communities.

Our vision is to create the leaders and future healers of the next generation, and out of respect and relationship to one another and our ancestors. Healing Intergenerational Roots (HIR) Wellness Institute chooses to follow the ancient process and Indigenous leadership teachings called, The Children’s Fire. The two laws of the Children’s Fire are that (1) The Children’s Fire must forever keep going, and (2) The feminine must be protected. We will always seek to protect our future by pledging that no harm will come to our children by doing what’s in their best interest and ensuring the continuation of our ways. Our programming encourages a community-based practice that addresses the unique needs of historical and intergenerational trauma, violence, adversity, and oppression through a community-focused and Intergenerational Healing Informed Approach™ now and for generations yet to come.

HIR Wellness Institute is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that believes in a multi-systemic and integrated approach to providing holistic and high-quality mental health and wellness care. "HIR" stands for Healing Intergenerational Roots and is pronounced "Her".

"As an Educator and Academic Advisor for Native American elementary students for the past two years, I have witnessed first hand how our children's physical and mental health issues in some cases are in need of extended supportive care. The HIR Wellness Center would be the perfect place to receive the specialized, quality care that they deserve. Knowing the people at HIR Wellness Center, I can rest assured that our children's needs and goals will be obtained."
